TAKING A TRIP…

 

This time 5 years ago I was ending a trip that irreversibly changed my life. I spent 5 months in Italy (Florence) and oh what I’d give for a quick trip to revisit all of the spots and taste all of the foods one more time! Italy was like that domino that tipped, setting off a chain of reactions that lead me to where I am today, and what a ride it’s been! I tend to keep my personal life quite separate to the blog, but the blog has been a part of my life for so long now that I can feel the lines starting to blur. So perhaps dear reader I’ll tell you my story one day very soon. Until then, let’s all take a quick daydreamy trip to Florence!

I think I’ll have a scoop of the frutti di bosco gelato, and you?

STREET STYLED NO.1 :: SUMMER DENIM!

Did you all have a lovely weekend? Hope so! As it turns out, I am totally and utterly addicted to denim shirts, can’t stop wearing ’em. So here’s a little summer double denim look! And because it’s summer, I included a few summer beauty essentials too – like tinted moisturizer (super lightweight foundation) and coral blush! I particularly like how our inspo girl is carrying two bags – a shoulder bag and a tote. I’m thinking of trying this myself! A small handbag for wallet, keys, phone, and a big bag for all of the other stuff that accumulates in one’s handbag, making it impossible to ever find your phone!

Have any fun plans for the weekend?!

I plan to do some baking with a friend, baking involving lemons! The options include lemon meringue tarts, whole lemon muffins or lemon-champagne bars with strawberry brulee topping…….
I’m so excited you have no idea. P.s. my friend’s a pastry chef. Jealous? I’ll try to photograph my food endeavors, if you haven’t seen them here are my last food posts:

I NEED A LAMP

 

I’m in the market for lamps for my bedside table, and I’m a bit overwhelmed – or rather, underwhelmed – by my options. Why is it, that the majority of lighting is so ugly? Frills and tassels and marabou lamp shades, it’s foul! Ok I exaggerate, there are beautiful lamps out there… I just can’t afford them! Lighting’s one of those things that I don’t want to spend money on, a lamp runs one to two hundred dollars and I need two of them! Here are three beautiful examples from the pages of Lonny, all three different types of lamps.

TOP 3 RESORT 2013 PRINTS!

 

Prints Prints Prints. I’m loving them right now! Yunno what else I’m loving? The WEARABILITY of the Resort season. Now as I type this I see that wearability is underscored with a red dotted line, meaning it is not a word. But it should be because it totally works in this context. Of course we need couture to set our imaginations on fire but Resort is like the basics. Which we all need! Not that basics need to be solid or boring, I mean check out these prints!

Now, how ridiculously ridiculous are those leather overalls?

Someone with far more guts than me needs to rock those.

WARBY PARKER:: TRYING ON MY 5!

I’m dying to know…

Which of these Warby Parker glasses do you like most?

Take two.

  Earlier this week I professed that I need glasses. A few clicks on the Warby Parker site and 2 quick days later, I have them! Five of them! I’m amazed how quickly they arrived, and equally amazed by how much I like all of them (except one, which is not pictured here). You get to choose 5 pairs out of their line and they mail them to your house for FREE. You can also virtually try on the glasses using your webcam, but trying them in person is SO much more fun. They even have recommendations based on face shape (although I’ve never been able to determine mine, help!).

So you get 5 pairs of glasses sent to your home, then you have 5 days to decide and mail them all back and let them know your choice + your prescription. It’s all quite easy, except the hard part, which is deciding. I thought I might enlist your help!

CANNES FILM FANTASIES

Wouldn’t it be nice to be prancing around in designer dresses in the South of France sun, popping in to say hello to Lana or Marion, maybe get a few style tips from Diane Kruger (did you see that Dior gown??). This is just a Cannes Film Fantasy of mine, and if you watch this film you too can experience it for a minute… or eight.

 

Despite the designer gowns and the bubbly, the most enjoyable moments appear to be the ones spent away from the festival! Oh, and doesn’t it make you wish you had a cute accent like Garance’s?

I NEED GLASSES

In the past few years I’ve noticed the slow decline in my vision, first it was far away street signs, then the score on the tv (not that that’s a priority), and then the menu at fast food restaurants (again, not a priority). I actually think it has to do with the number of hours I spend staring at the glare of a computer screen, working all day and then blogging all night. But I’ve decided to embrace this new opportunity to rock some geeky eyewear, and so the online shopping begins! This is of course the most difficult of all purchases to make online, no matter how much time I spend virtually trying them on with the webcam (this is super fun, you must try it!). So friends I think it’s time to actually try these glasses on. Like on my face. You may have heard of Warby Parker, who sends you 5 pairs of glasses to try and choose your favorite, as well as donating a pair to someone in need for every purchase you make! In my search for glasses I also found Tortoise & Blonde and See By Us, both with very attractive vintage-inspired frames. It’ll be a tough decision since glasses can dominate a look like no other accessory can, so maybe I’ll let you all take a vote once I narrow it down!
