WHAT I WORE:: THINGS I LIKE

17 May

Truck-lined streets. This is Texas
HAT MADEWELL / SHIRT ANTHROPOLOGIE / PANTS ZARA / BAG ZARA / BOOTS VINTAGE

I have an affinity for this baseball cap that I simply can’t explain. The day I bought it I put it on when I walked out of the store and have worn it at every excuse ever since. Why? I couldn’t tell you, it’s completely nondescript, it’s an unremarkable color, it probably doesn’t even go with this outfit. But I like it. And at the end of the day, that’s what it’s really all about, right?

Other things I like:
  • These totally beat up boots I bought at a street stall on South Congress here in Austin for such a low price, I bought two! (Remember that week I bought 3 pairs of boots? This was one of em)

  • The back of this shirt. Can’t get enough of it.This is white button down shirt number 3 in my closet.

  • This lip stain. It’s a Revlon lip stain in Lovesick… I don’t know what I did before it. I have 4 colors from this line and Lovesick is my favorite.
  • In writing these bullet points, I’ve also discovered that I really love multiples. That is potentially dangerous for my wallet.
What are a few things that you like right now?

JEFFREY CAMPBELL KNOWS WHAT I NEED

30 Aug
I’m not sure when it happened, or how, but somewhere along the way I developed a serious addiction to black ankle boots (for proof see here). Particularly black ankle boots with a buckle or two and a little something extra going on. My Chloe Sussan boot-a-likes are probably my most worn shoe of all time, and my Sam Edelman Zoe’s are definitely my most prized. But I can already tell that this boot, with its buckle detailing and head-turning cut outs, is a prime candidate for most worn and most prized boot of 2013.
I say 2013 because it is only available for pre-order, and won’t ship until NOVEMBER 26!?! What a tease. To put these boots just out of reach. I suppose the fact that they won’t be available until November gives us plenty of time to deliberate on the $195 price tag and the practicality of wearing boots with bits missing. How would they look with pants? And it would make for very awkward sock situations…

SUMMER BOOTS

8 Jun

I totally enjoyed reading your responses to my summer confession (I wear black, a lot) and it sounds like you’re all pretty forgiving on the black clothing front, but somewhat horrified about wearing boots in the summer! I get it, I really do. But I simply can’t go 3 months without wearing my beloved boots! You know who’s with me? Isabel Marant.
She knows what’s up, her boots are super summer-friendly. From the must-have Dicker ankle boots to her tall fringed boots, she knows how to satisfy my boot craving even when it’s hot. Hear me out, these boots are suede and not leather, plus the fringe totally qualifies them for the summer boho look!
And yes, my feet may be burning up inside them, but 6-inch espadrilles are the traditional footwear of choice for summer, and they can hardly be described as comfortable! So while others teeter on straw wedges, I’ll sweat it out in my suede boots.
By the way, I attended my little brother’s high school graduation this past weekend and 99% of the girls were wearing 6-inch wedges, (a couple of sensible girls wore flats, a couple not-so-sensible ones wore 7-inch platforms). So that is what fueled the majority of this post 😉

Happy Friday!!

DIY FILES:: GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI GLITTER BOOTS

12 Jul
These Giuseppe Zanotti glitter boots are gorrrgeous and clearly a must-have to add pizzazz to any look. But is that pizzazz worth $895? Perhaps not. Thus a diy is born, and all it takes is a pair of ankle boots, spray glue, and lots of glitter! Any color glitter would work, just make sure the glue you choose dries clear.
Mask off the heels and any sections that you want to keep black, then cover the leather part of the shoe with a thick layer of glue. Coat the shoes in a very thick layer of glitter and let dry. Done!
