BEST IPHONE CASE

11 Oct

Amidst all of the luxury shoes and handbags I spied during Fashion Week, this cheap and cheerful “purse” was my favorite! Giovanna Battaglia’s iPhone case played right into my motto to never take fashion or design too seriously. I don’t know if I’ll ever part with my (first and only) iPhone case, but when the day comes I’ll be channeling Giovanna! I found these on a site called Candies Gifts, but I know there tons of these on Ebay and Amazon for about $5, a steal!

I realize this totally toes the line between fun and tacky… but if Giovanna says it’s chic then I’m going to take her word for it.

What do you guys think? Too tacky?

WHAT TAYLOR WORE:: FASHION WEEK 2013

9 Oct

Day two of our Fashion Week recap, it had to be Miss Tomasi Hill. You never know what she’s going to do next, whether she’ll pull out all the stops or just go simple with a collared shirt and jeans. One thing is a constant though: that hair. It’s always hard to choose a favorite, but in this case I could not get over that floral print dress with her cropped leather moto jacket. I think what excites me most about that look is that we can all pull it off! We all have a pretty dress that could stand to be toughened up by a little leather. And if you haven’t seen the word transition enough lately, then here it is again. It’s simply the best way to transition your leg baring dresses into fall.
Which is your favorite TTH look?

WHAT SHE WORE:: MIRA DUMA, FASHION WEEK 2013

8 Oct

Fashion Week (month) can be overwhelming. Not only do all of the runway shows occur simultaneously, but a plethora of street style shots accompany them. In an effort to organize my thoughts, (and organize my pins!) I’ll be posting my fashion week favorites all week. Stay tuned for my favorite outfits, my favorite street style mavens, and if I can manage to sift through the shows, my favorites of those too! Of course, I had to start the week off with my number one girl, Miroslava Duma. She shows us petite brunettes how to work what our mamas gave us. And as you can see from this collection of fashion week outfits, she always changes it up! I think her best look was the embellished Burberry trench. I meannnn. Someone pretty please diy that.
Let me know if there are any fashionistas you’d like to request!

STREET STYLED:: POPPY DELEVIGNE LFW

27 Sep

This is one of my favorite street style looks to come out of Fashion Week so far. And it’s no surprise, Poppy Delevigne is arguably London’s biggest street style superstar (alongside her model sister, Cara!). I could devote a whole blog to the Delevigne sisters, but for today I’m focusing on this eclectic ensemble. You’d think that an embroidered top and ripped jeans could so easily go the route of the beachy bohemian (read: cliche) but this is no beach, it’s London Fashion Week.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of formula dressing – going out on the town? Little dress, high heel. Going to the beach? Breezy blouse, ripped jeans. But for that unexpected edge, it’s all about the mix. I wouldn’t have thought to mix daywear and nightwear quite like this, but I’ll definitely be trying to look at my closet a little differently.

MIROSLAVA DUMA & FRIENDS!

13 Mar

When Miroslava Duma and her Russian-model-fashion-editor-friends speak, we listen. And this Fashion Week they were all about the “wood diamonds.” Mira’s bff Vika Gazinskaya designed the embellished sweatshirts and the lovely brocade printed skirts and pants to go with them. Vika even drew the prints herself! And those little pieces snap on and off so you can mix and match as you please.

Wouldn’t it be nice to ring up your editor best friend and say “hey, I diy’d my sweatshirt today. Wanna wear matching ones to Paris Fashion Week? Cool. Kbye.”

Here’s Vika talking about her winter collection (at 1:40)

I’LL HAVE WHAT SHE’S HAVING:: MIRANDA KERR

12 Oct

miranda kerr street style

This is one of my favorite aesthetics – simple, clean lines. Modern Basics. Relaxed Luxe. When I really break down my own personal style this is at the heart of it. Stylish without trying too hard. Fashionable without repelling men within a 20-foot radius. On-trend yet classic. Casual yet elegant.
I could go on.
And the best part? We can all attain this look with smart shopping decisions: basic tees, skinny’s, heels and blazers, all in neutral whites, blacks and greys. Update your basics with leather separates like pants, skirts, and shorts. Top it off with a structured bag and sunglasses in a classic shape. The most important element? Flattering fit.
I’ve got my shopping list, now it’s time to focus on the essentials and not fall prey to trends. (My weakness is shoes!)
Oh yea, and it would help to look like Miranda Kerr.

FASHION WEEK PURSES ACCESSORIES STREET STYLE

I’m absolutely loving all the COLOR this fashion week season. Both on and off the catwalk. Colorful and feminine is the name of the game, have you seen Dolce & Gabbana yet?? Genius. If not, I’ll probably have to do a post on it tomorrow. Along with the announcement of my giveaway winners!
