BEAUTY FILE:: TOP KNOT

28 Aug
I’ve always been a bunhead. I did ballet for 16 years, plus my hair has always been twice as thick as everyone else’s – so buns were the most practical and effective way to do my hair! I never quite grew out of this quick fix (as in, I wear one almost every day) so isn’t it lucky that buns are totally en vogue right now? Of course they’ve had a fresh makeover (right on top of the head & a looser twist) and a new name, the top knot. It took me a while to adjust to having my hair up so high on the head, and not quite so tight, but this video is a really easy step-by-step tutorial to get the updated bun!
I’m trying to break my bun habit but what with all of the models-off-duty sporting this ‘do I’m finding it even more difficult than before. Perhaps I should just cut it all off 😉

I’LL HAVE WHAT SHE’S HAVING:: ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY

FUJI FILES: Rosie Huntington-WhiteleyFUJI FILES: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Looking at all of these different looks by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, I realize that they’re actually not all that different! That, I think, is the key to true personal style.
Surfing fashion blogs we see so many girls looking equally fabulous in so many different styles, from modern minimalist to bohemian chic. It’s so easy to fall into a state of style schizophrenia! And there’s nothing wrong with that, except it can be really expensive.
What I really love about Rosie’s personal style is that she is so consistent, most of her outfits start with the same base – leather leggings, tan suede ankle boots, a t-shirt, a hat, and a jacket with a bit of structure and volume. It’s a bonus that I already have most of those pieces. I’m working on editing my shopping habits, so creating these collections are helping me focus my own style.

WHAT (ALEXA) WORE:: GLASTONBURY 2011

glastonbury 2011 alexa chung kate moss style

I’ll admit this is a bit of an Alexa fest, but let’s be honest, she is the queen of festivalwear. (Second only to Kate Moss who seems most at home in a muddy field). If you love Alexa’s white summery dress as much as I do, you might be excited to know it’s for sale on Topshop.com right NOW!
The question is, is Alexa’s influence over me powerful enough to cause a $70 purchase?
Perhaps.

I’LL HAVE WHAT SHE’S HAVING:: Elena Perminova

This pink Maison Michel hat has been my favorite street style moment of the year.
Well done Elena Perminova. Her style is smashing, but I have a hunch it has something to do with her bff Miroslava Duma!

STREET STYLE:: Perfect + Simple

13 Dec
Major Why didn’t I think of that moment. This outfit is so simple and still incredibly cute. I wish I could find that little skirt, my first stop will be modcloth. And those shoes look so comfy, they could be these Jeffrey Campbell’s.

STREET STYLE:: Perfect dress

12 Dec
Rachel Rutt has such a great look. I need a bold print dress like this (I love long sleeve dresses) to wear at any occasion. You could go from brunch at a cafe to shopping in the afternoon then out for drinks in the evening with this one dress. Maybe add black booties for night. Seeing Rachel taking off also makes me giddy remembering the pics I got of her from Sydney Fashion Festival. Next stop, find this dress.

STREET STYLE:: LEOPARD + LIPS

Another great leopard look with the collar buttoned all the way up, and those lips are the cherry on top!
I basically cannot get enough.
