I’LL HAVE WHAT SHE’S HAVING:: ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY

FUJI FILES: Rosie Huntington-WhiteleyFUJI FILES: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Looking at all of these different looks by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, I realize that they’re actually not all that different! That, I think, is the key to true personal style.
Surfing fashion blogs we see so many girls looking equally fabulous in so many different styles, from modern minimalist to bohemian chic. It’s so easy to fall into a state of style schizophrenia! And there’s nothing wrong with that, except it can be really expensive.
What I really love about Rosie’s personal style is that she is so consistent, most of her outfits start with the same base – leather leggings, tan suede ankle boots, a t-shirt, a hat, and a jacket with a bit of structure and volume. It’s a bonus that I already have most of those pieces. I’m working on editing my shopping habits, so creating these collections are helping me focus my own style.

FUJI FILES FAVORITE:: BLUE VELVET

FUJI FILES: Blue Velvet BedroomFUJI FILES: Blue Velvet Shoes
I’m in a crushed blue velvet kind of mood. I especially love how the light hits it at different angles, creating different shades from shiny and light to deep and dark. I could get lost in it that bedsheet.

5 LOOKS BY:: ULRIKKE LUND

5 looks by ulrikke lund street style
Fall is all about warm knits, baggy beanies, fleece, wool, scarves, ponchos. But how do we keep from looking like a big ball of yarn? Punctuate it all with a few edgy pieces like on-trend sunglasses, leather leggings, and metallic jeans. This beautiful Norwegian has a fail-proof formula fall we can all learn from! As with all things, the key is in the mix. This fall I plan to mix cozy pieces with edgy accessories, so now I’m wondering where to get the coziest of all pieces – that jacket.
It’s totally the Snuggle bear in jacket form, am I right? I always wanted to hug one, and now I want to curl up in one.

What’s your fall formula?

Glittery nail polish heaven.
1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
2. SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THING
3. DO YA THINK I’M SEXY?
4. LADY SINGS THE BLUES
5. ACROSS THE UNIVERSE
6. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
7. TODAY WAS A FAIRYTALE
8. BAD ROMANCE
9. RUBY RED SLIPPERS
10. SOME ENCHANTED EVENING
11. I LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE
12. BOOM BOOM POW

For Halloween, the ruby red dripping down over a black basecoat – how very True Blood!
Or the greens and blues of #5 could be the finishing touch to a mermaid costume.
My birthday’s in November, so it’s gotta be Happy Birthday of course.
For Thanksgiving, I’m digging that burgundy glitter over a dark red wine.
For Christmas, gold over a metallic champagne base.
And of course New Year’s is begging for the silver sparkly I Love the Nightlife.

How would you wear them?
Thanks to Grace who tipped me off to these beauties!
Now let’s get ombre glittering!

ALEXA CHUNG’S OMBRE GLITTER MANICURE

19 Oct

Each of my nails has a different glitter nail polish on it right now.
The result of seeing Alexa’s manicure and way too much time spent in the nail polish aisle yesterday.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find any polishes with big chunky sparkles in it like these green ones, but the search continues! I’m considering usually actual glitter from the arts and crafts section with a bit of clear nail polish. Nails are the hottest new accessory, and as you can tell I’m really getting into it!
I want to try different base colors underneath, like white with gold glitter, or mint with silver glitter!
Now, how to get the gradual ombre effect?

Check out my latest post on how to wear Carine Roitfeld’s go-to piece, now up on coco+kelley!

FALL FAVORITE: HATS!

18 Oct
Plenty of inspo to get your head in the right space for fall — which is under a rich wool hat.

Yunno that phrase “You wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you”?
I feel like hats wear me.
And all day long I am 200% aware that I have a large accessory on my head, blocking my peripheral vision and yelling “LOOK AT ME! I’M WEARING A HAT!”
I know I know, I just need to get over that.
Of course I have the token straw fedora and it comes out to play at the beach and at festivals. And I borrowed my friend’s awesome hat in this photo. Baby steps friends.
Do you rock the wide-brimmed hat? Do you feel like everyone’s looking at your wide-brimmed hat?
Do you just not care?
If so, I dig your moxie.
