FUJI FLOWERS

31 Oct
Now there’s nothing dark, spooky, or Halloween-y about this, but I’m far too excited about it not to post it!
FUJI FLOWERS is officially open for business.
For those of you who are interested in purchasing a flower crown (or two!) I’m now taking orders. Can you tell how psyched I am in this photo? Pretty psyched.
They are $25 each and you can pay through PayPal.
Email thefujifiles@gmail.com to make your order!

Happy Halloween!

31 Oct

Big question of the day:
What are you going to be for Halloween?
I think I might post pictures of my costume tomorrow, if all goes well.

ONE TINY CHAMPAGNE BAR

29 Oct

One Tiny Champagne Bar. Otherwise known as the cutest bar I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s hardly surprising coming from a girl whose room was painted ‘Mint Majesty’ for years. I’m considering turning my kitchen into One Tiny Champagne Bar… what do you think? Not a bad idea I’d say. Except that I’m not a fan of champagne (something about the bubbles) so let’s go with One Tiny Wine Bar. Or maybe One Tiny Hot Chocolate Bar. Mmmm. One Tiny Green Tea Bar. Apparently I’m partial to things that are tiny. And corks in a bell jar (genius). If you’re ever in Helsinki, don’t forget to pop in to this tiny establishment!

LAST-MINUTE HALLOWEEN IDEAS (from the runway)

26 Oct
Lampshade head by Alexander McQueen

Tacky tourist at Betsey Johnson

The Kaiser himself, at Chanel

Still struggling for last minute Halloween costume ideas? Well I went to the Spirit Halloween store last night and let me tell you, it was not hot. If you’re looking for a Halloween costume that does not involve a corset or fishnets this year, why not look to the runways? I sifted through a few of the more theatrical shows and found these, but there’s so much more inspiration to be found! Better yet, these costumes don’t require a trip to the Halloween store.

1. Put a lampshade on your head (or a giant visor for that matter) your most extravagant dress (yunno the one you never get to wear!) and be an Alexander McQueen model

2. Don all your leopard, too-tight clothing, an outrageous hat, and too much makeup. Bring a rolling luggage and go as a tacky tourist.

3. You could always pull a Roberto Cavalli and go as Karl Lagerfeld! A black blazer, white button up, a tie, some white hair spray paint on your ponytail, and sunglasses should do the trick.

Now for the big question, what are YOU gonna be for Halloween!?!

Sarah Jessica Parker on Glee

24 Oct

I haven’t actually had a chance to see this episode yet, but Sarah Jessica Parker as editor of Vogue on Glee is a triple threat if I’ve ever heard one. She can sing, she can dance, she can act, and unequivocally, the girl can dress. That’s a quadruple threat. SJP is BFFs with Anna Wintour, and supposedly Anna helped pick out her wardrobe to play the part. I wonder if she picked that gem encrusted eagle necklace too! If you’d like a bird of your own, Zara does one for just $39.90, and to get the look for even less, Forever 21 has one for $12.80!

DIY Files: Butterflies & Pumpkins

23 Oct

In this set of DIY Files, we’ve got butterflies, pumpkins, and butterflies on pumpkins.

The steps and materials are essentially the same for all of three of these DIYs! Print clip art butterflies onto vellum sheets, and stick them to a lightbulb, a branch, a pumpkin, or anything you’d like. And if you’d prefer, you can use these butterfly decals instead.

I think this would be a fabulous way to add character to a ceiling light if you live in an apartment and can’t change out your fixtures. For materials and directions, you’ve gotta check out Suzonne’s post over at Urban Comfort. She even pulled together a pinterest board of butterfly clip art! Such a good resource.

Let me know if you try any of these DIYs, or if you decide to add butterflies to anything else in your home!

ACL 2012 – What We Wore

22 Oct

via JTPics.com

Happy Monday y’all! Here are a few of my snaps from Days 2 and 3 of Austin City Limits 2012! Somehow, inexplicably, this was my first time to attend ACL Music Fest. To be honest, something about music festivals has always put me off. The thought of lining up for an hour to use a portapotty, or (in some cases) an inability to bathe, or (in many cases) getting wet and muddy. I’m not a girly girl, but I’ve always been intimidated by committing to these seemingly medieval conditions. Well friends, I went into my first ACL hopeful, and I came out the other side with muddy boots and a big smile on my face. Oh yea, and a flower crown on my head!
For the grande finale on Day 3 Nancy and I decided to wear my diy flower crowns, and not to toot my own horn but.. these babies were popular! I initially made my first flower crown for a little photo shoot with CamilleStyles thinking it would be a one-time use sorta thing, but ever since then my friends have been borrowing them, instagramming them, and generally going gaga for them. It has awakened the entrepreneurial spirit in me. They’re the absolute perfect accessory for a festival, Halloween, or just because. I’ve also found they make great gifts 😉
So starting today if you’d like your very own Fuji Flowers crown
send me an email at

They’re $25 each, and if you have any color requests do let me know!

GET THE LOOK:: Metric at ACL 2012

19 Oct
Last weekend I went to Austin City Limits music festival, and along with the live music and the people watching, I also loved what Emily Haines of Metric wore! No, I wasn’t close enough to the stage to see her sunglasses, but luckily there were screens big enough for me to confirm that they were in fact, Miu Miu.
It might have been my favorite performance, or maybe I was just blinded by those glittery glasses and that leather vest. It got me thinking about the oversized leather vest being sold at Zara right now. When I first saw the vest in the Zara lookbook I couldn’t think of very many ways in which I could wear it, but now  all I can think about is countless ways to wear it! It is the perfect layer for fall, it’ll keep you warm but you won’t be boiling. And the Miu Miu’s aren’t quite attainable – so I’m considering this diy version

WHAT I WORE:: HAPPY HOUR

17 Oct

I wore this simple look to happy hour at Contigo with the Camille Styles team recently. I have a bit of an addiction to relaxed collared shirts – white, blue, striped, denim, they’re so easy to wear and never look sloppy. Paired with some cargo skinnies and my new leopard heels, and you’ve got just the right amount of effort to output ratio. Effort to output ratio? Let me explain…
I’m always searching for the balance between effortless and trying too hard – it can be a tricky one to master especially when street stylers are constantly pushing boundaries in an effort to be photographed. Do I step out the door every day looking like Anna Dello Russo? No. I’m guessing neither do you. That would qualify as trying too hard. So when a leopard print fringed dress isn’t going to work with your schedule, try some leopard heels instead. These are from ShoeMint and not only do they satisfy my leopard craving, but there’s a sneaky peek of zebra on the heel strap as well!
SHIRT ZARA (old, similar), PANTS FOREVER21 (old, similar), CLUTCH FOREVER21 (old, similar), SHOES SHOEMINT (GIFTED)
ShoeMint is generously offering my readers 20% off any of their shoes, so if you’ve been eyeing a pair this is a great way to get them!

BLACK & WHITE DINNER PARTY

16 Oct
Hello all, hope you had a fun weekend! I have a little recap coming up for you with what I did (and what I wore), but until then I wanted to show you this little beauty. Don’t you wish you were eating turkey and mashed potatoes at that table right now? I know I do. Although the colors are black and white (and you wouldn’t typically think of those as warm and cozy!) I found myself totally inspired by the fall feel of this dinner party.
I posted more on this party and my picks to get the look on CamilleStyles, if you’d like to see more click here!
