A HAPPY ACCIDENT

14 Dec

You guyyys. The CRAZIEST thing just happened! So I’ve been looking at this real estate listing over and over and emailing it to my friends and generally crushing and begging the question:
Who lives here?? And why would they leave such a place?
Then this past weekend I happily met Austin’s Apartment Therapy writer Chris Perez, a lovely fellow who reminded me how much I used to love Apartment Therapy. It was one of the first shelter blogs I read (it was one of the first shelter blogs in existence!) back in college I could spend hours combing it for decor ideas and diys, and my favorite: before & afters. No need to describe it to you I’m sure you too have read its valuable content. So I revisited my old haunt today (especially useful now that I’m about to move) and just LOOK what I found! The exact home I’ve been style stalking and even blogging! It’s uncanny. And now I have my answer to who lives here:
Name: Levi Dugat and Evette Richards
Location: Austin, Texas
Size: 864 square feet
Years lived in: 5 years, but they’ve owned it for almost 8 years (Levi and Evette moved down to the coast for 3 years and came back).
An artist and craftsman, Levi has not only drawn, painted and built most of this home’s decorative elements, but he’s also found a way to make it all blend into a cohesive and unique showcase for works from several artists in the community. Come stroll through this beautiful gallery of local talent and practical DIYs, before Evette and Levi say farewell to their labor of love and hello to a new home and life with their first child.
And there you have it. The blogosphere opened up and answered my question.
Thanks blogosphere.

GIFT IDEA: THE HAND BOOK

13 Dec

Found it. The perfect gift for your nail art-addicted best friend! The Hand Book: A Guide to Nail Art (Hand book.. get it?) is a book full of step-by-step instructions to super cool manis. This Christmas crisis solved. You’re welcome.

The Trophy Wife Nail Art service could be affectionately referred to as ‘The Hipster Mani’.   Chelsea’s service doesn’t extend to all the extensive polishing and shellac-ing and usual nail salon hoo ha.  It’s quite simply all about the nail art.  (She doesn’t do acrylics or gels, and she has a ‘No Toes’ policy!).  Chelsea currently works from a studio in Brunswick street, she can also often be found doing nails in store at Alice Euphemia, and she also does housecalls, parties, office visits and photoshoots!

This month Chelsea has launched a very brilliant side project.  She has joined forces with Anna Ross of Kester Black to produce their book ‘The Hand Book : A Guide to Nail Art‘, which launched just last week!  The book is self published, featuring 15 excellent handpainted nail projects with easy step by step instructions.  It’s only $29.95 and can be purchased from either the Trophy Wife Nail Art orKester Black online stores.

FOR LIKE… EVER

11 Dec
I’ve been in love with this poster for like, ever. (Sorry, I had to). I know that one day I’ll buy one for my own place but I’ve just been unable to settle on a color! The classic pink and red? Or the brighter fluorescent pink. Or my signature citron? There’s also a metallic gold. Help!
I think I’ve managed to narrow it down to the classic pink + red or the neon citron, what do you think? Which color should I get?

STYLE STALKING

10 Dec

Now I called this post Style Stalking because in posting it I felt like precisely that: a stalker. Let me explain. I have been searching for a new place to live, and in my search I’ve mostly found unattractive, dated homes (sorry, it’s true) until I stumbled upon this specimen.
Who lives here? Are they a blogger? They must be. This home is blogger perfection. Note the For Like Ever poster. The green campaign dresser in the kitchen. And the brightly painted doors. Um hello Pinterest. I feel more than a little bit creepy posting photos of someone’s home (from a real estate website) on my blog, but desiretoinspire does it all the time! (If you don’t read desiretoinspire, get there. Quick). Now this home is out of my budget, but even then I’m tempted to invest based solely on these photos. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) its sale is already pending. I’d love to know if a blogger lives here, and if so, I’d love to read their blog! Wouldn’t you?

xoxo

WHAT WE WORE:: NEON PT. 2

3 Dec
This is what happens when you take outfit photos at night. When you procrastinate all day long and then when you finally get out there the sun has already gone down. Luckily our highlighter clothing lights up the night sky and you can easily find us! We were practically glowing.
This is look number two in our How to Wear Neon series! I was feeling a 90’s moment with my docs and sweater tied around my waist. Sweatshirts tied around the waist were my thing back in 7th grade. But with this neon sweater hopefully the look is a little more Jenna Lyons and a little less junior high. Nancy’s wearing her crop top with a fringe maxi skirt and spiked Litas. I’d be lying if I said I don’t try those on all the time. They’re killer. Literally, they’re so dangerous.
ON ME:
SWEATER J.CREW / DRESS FOREVER21 / BAG CALVIN KLEIN / EARRINGS JEWELMINT / SHOES DR MARTEN
ON NANCY:
TOP TOBI / SKIRT TOBI / SHOES JEFFREY CAMPBELL / NECKLACE URBAN OUTFITTERS
